August Bank Holiday
Can you believe summer is almost over? Well if you're currently looking through your window in North Wales then the answer is probably, unfortunately "yes"...
If you're looking through your window in Greece, you will have just enjoyed one of the biggest celebration days in the Greek Orthodox calendar. The 15th of August is 'the Easter of the summer' where Greeks celebrate the Virgin Mary and you will find 'panygyris' in almost every town, with music, dancing, and best of all- slow cooked lamb. Saint days are celebrated like birthdays in Orthodox cultures by those who are named after saints, so when the big mama's day comes around all the Marias, Despoinas, Panagiotis and Theotokis are celebrating (and that's a lot of Greeks!)
Anyway, there's nothing quite comparable to a festival day in Greece, but certain sun-soaked August bank holidays have come close. If you want to soak up some Greek holiday vibes (and Ouzo!) this bank holiday weekend then I have some good news for you... I will be open Sunday and Monday!
I'm opening bookings up tonight only for my lovely subscribers, so you can get a head start before I advertise tomorrow on social media, so please get in touch as soon as you can with your preferred day/time/ party size! I've had to turn people away every weekend so please make sure you book sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment!
